Clock Tower, Thimphu

This place is in the heart of Thimpu city. There is a clock tower in the middle of this place which is carved beautifully.
Surrounded by steps where people can sit and pass the time with friends and family.
In evenings, some groups come here to practice. We found a group of boys performing for their show, which was really amazing.

Also there are shops u0026 restaurants alongside.

Situated in the heart of town, Clock Tower Square is an architecture marvel and a pleasure to eyes. It is basically a tower with four clock faces, which makes it different from any other building or structure in Bhutan. One of the most popular site among visitors, people usually visit here in the evening to enjoy the beautiful paintings and carvings. There are many restaurants, souvenir shops and hotels near this tower, making it one of the most busy sites in the town.
Sometimes live music takes place in around here, which adds to the ambience of the clock tower square. There are many shopping centres around, so you can shop for souvenirs from your relatives and friends. For kids, there is a small playground also, which a good picnic spot and a good place to spend your evening. Spinning the colourful prayer wheels is another fun task to do here. If you are lucky enough, then you might catch a concert or a small play happening around here.

For Nu 3mn and for a period of 1 month, the following works were completed:

- Repainting of the clocktower
- Clearing of clogged drains and replacement of stormwater drains and dolep cover
- Chipping of the damaged sitting gallery including steps and redoing of plastering work
- Removal of defunct fountains and damaged benches
- Leveling of clock tower base flooring by reducing one level to make it user-friendly for all
- Removing the mani lhakhor as it was being misused by being spit on or used as hiding places for thrash
- Renovation of staircase (towards Changlimithang) including widening of the same
- Replacement of broken/cracked doleps or kota stone

The benches and greening works are yet to be completed.

This place also has commercial shops u0026 restaurants surrounded so one can have shopping as well as delicious food.

It is located in thimphu. It is located centrally of the city there is market all around. One can have best shopping experience. Clock tower square is really nice place cafes are also near it. Children's can play over there. It has nice atmosphere.

In brief I would say this is the place where one should stay as a tourist. It's a happening place. Been there few days ago they had awesome night band , street is well lighted up. Shops restaurants and cafeterias you name it. Traffic is well managed safe zebra crossings for pedestrians, and the best of all good eating options , for non-vegetarians it's a spread. I Do recommend visiting and staying there.
