Farmers come from all over the country to sell their farm products in the market. With its wide assortment of fresh and organic produce, the Farmer’s Market has become a favourite spot for tourists and a recreational place for people from all walks of life. Across a cantilever footbridge, Kuendeyling Bazaam, to the west bank is a collection of stalls selling clothing, textiles and handicrafts.
The Centenary Farmers Market was inaugurated in 2008 by Her Royal Highness Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuk. The market is held in a two story building which houses about 400 stalls. Vendors start displaying their produce in these stalls from Thursday and continue to do so over the next three days. This is also the best time to visit the market and explore the stalls, as most of the produce is displayed during this time. Apart from all the buying and selling, these markets present a great opportunity to interact with the locals. One of the benefits of these interactions is that you are introduced to the ingredients essential to a traditional Bhutanese diet.

The hotel and room service is not upto the expectation. The bed sheets and blankets are not changed. Service attendees are not friendly. The facility is good though. If sanitation and hospitality is more taken care, this is gonna be a very good hotel for east west travellers

Located in the capital city, this is the BIGGEST market in Bhutan. Most of the families in Thimphu city visit this market at least every weekends for shopping like rice, vegetables, fruits, meat etc. This is a market where we can get everything that we want inside our kitchen. All local products are available in this market.
If you are coming to Bhutan as a tourist, I would recommend you to visit at least once to experience the atmosphere of Bhutanese market.
